Counselling in Ulverston and online.
Welcome to my space. It is lovely that you are here.
I’m Lara, a Psychotherapist-in-training in my fifth year of an MA in Psychosynthesis Psychology at the Institute of Psychosynthesis, in partnership with Middlesex University. I am a trainee member of both the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Psychosynthesis has a psycho-spiritual approach, and within this framework, I work with clients who are seeking deeper meaning, longing to enrich their relationships, and wishing to welcome more love and joy into their lives, most importantly, with a readiness to engage in that journey.
I offer counselling both in Ulverston and online. My approach is empathic, honest, and empowering, creating a space where you can feel supported and truly heard. Whether you’re navigating a life-changing event or facing personal challenges, such as relationship difficulties, grief, or a loss of purpose and motivation, I can support you in exploring what’s at the heart of your experience.
In our work together, I will meet you where you are on your journey and provide a safe, supportive space. From there, we can build a strong foundation for meaningful and lasting growth and change. For this therapeutic alliance to be effective, all that is required from you is your willingness to engage in the process.
We all encounter challenges in life, and therapy can offer emotional support, fostering self-compassion and deeper understanding. Along the way, it often brings clarity and healing, transforming our lives in profound and meaningful ways.

The Gift of Psychosynthesis is a platform created by mySelf and my colleague and Friend Jamie Carroll.
Individuals may seek therapy for a variety of reasons, such as current dilemmas, anxiety, addictive patterns, emotional imbalances, relationship difficulties, grief due to a loss of a loved one, or a more succinct kind of loss, including life changing circumstance in regards to health or career, for example. Such challenges, although disguised as problems, can be a great opportunity for healing.
Some individuals seek therapy to support personal growth and to make sense of deeper insights, such as those arising from altered states of consciousness (ASC) experienced through breathwork, meditation, psychedelics, or shamanic practices. I am particularly interested in guiding clients through the integration phase, where these profound experiences can be transformed into practical wisdom and meaningful change.
I came to the UK from Brazil, my home country, in 2007. After 15 years in London, I moved to Grange over Sands with my Husband and our Cockapoo Dog.
Service has always been at the heart of my professional life—it is both my passion and my soul’s calling. After 30 years working in healthcare, it was during my time as a Senior Sexual Health Nurse in a busy London clinic that I first felt drawn to Psychosynthesis. My initial motivation was to develop counselling skills to better support my patients on their healing journeys.
However, once I enrolled at the Institute of Psychosynthesis in London, a deeper transformation began. The first two years of training became a profound journey of self-discovery and self-compassion. Guided by meaningful synchronicities and life events, this path not only inspired a shift in my career but also helped me nurture more authentic and loving relationships—with others and with myself.
Being a Gong Practitioner and Yoga Instructor are meaningful and enriching parts of my life. The deep sounds and vibrations of the gongs guide the body and mind into profound relaxation, offering a wide range of physical and emotional health benefits.
I discovered my love for yoga in 2013, and in 2015, I completed my Akhanda Yoga Teacher Training in London under the guidance of the inspiring teacher and healer Julia Anastasiou. My approach to yoga is therapeutic, with a strong focus on nurturing the connection between body, mind, and soul.
Currently, I offer Sound Healing and chair yoga sessions to small private groups in Grange-over-Sands, creating spaces for healing and inner balance.
While my formal qualifications and experience are important foundations for this work, what I truly wish to offer is a sense of who I am, my authenticity, my values, and the spirit I bring to our work together. My hope is that we connect through our shared humanity, allowing you to experience both my compassionate presence and the openness born of genuine vulnerability.
